Heron Dress | Hidden Lineages, Delapré Abbey Northampton, part of Jo Blake’s Heresy Project, 2023.
Heron dress is a portal being to honour the visitations of Heron in physical and imaginal realms, since 2019. Their presence has showed up as a steward to the river work, and the birthing of a deep love shared and the beckoning of new life. In a recent ceremony heron arrived and called for the gift of clairvoyance and clarity and it was time to gift them back with tender stitches and weaving.
Materials: Hand-felted wings from Yorkshire wool - home of my motherline; woad-dyed river breast and recycled cotton from clothes holding much sentiment and memory; the heron wings are the pages of my phd that I shredded and turned into paper in 2017 - the returning of the river story back to the body of tree and earth and matter.
